Secondly, I'll be commenting on Caroline's blog. Caroline's blog was extremely informative. From looking through her blog, you could tell that much effort had been put into it. There were also many photographs which made her blog more lively.

Thirdly, I'll be commenting on Melanie's blog. In her blog, there are different fonts which represents different parts of her blog. Furthermore, there are plenty of photographs which we be extremely helpful if I were to cook this dish myself.

All in all, these blogs were well done. They have each excelled in different expects which makes each and every blog unique! I had really enjoyed reading and commenting on their blogs. I hope that these blogs would be helpful towards you guys as well!

Reflections

Hey guys! So today I'll be writing about my reflections on the process and learning points from this performance task.

This performance task has been very meaningful towards me as it made me look back and reflect on my life. I have learnt more about myself and many different ways to change my bad habits into good ones. I hope that this journey has not only been a very educational yet fun experience for me but for my viewers too.

Firstly, I have learnt that I enjoy eating a lot of fried food. This is unhealthy and will cause negative impacts such us, increase in weight and mental unhappiness. Also, I could include more vegetables and fruits into my diet. Overall however, I do consider my diet a healthy one as I do eat everything in moderation and believe in a balanced diet.

Secondly, the nutritional tools are helpful because they do have specific instructions and suggestions to help you change towards a better lifestyle. As there are also many different ways to go about to do something, it allows one to choose the most comfortable path for him or her to get the task accomplished. For example, if one wanted to start exercising, he or she could choose between any sport activity, whether it is going to an air conditioned gym, or playing basketball outside under the hot sun.

Thirdly, my suggested one-dish meal is healthy as it has many vegetables such as lentils, spinach, onion, garlic and mint. Also, my beans (lentils), were freshly cooked unlike the normal recipie which uses canned beans. Furthermore, the recipie was mostly boiled instead of being fried which would also help make it healthier. On top of all these changes, a bonus was that it was still extremely delicious.

Fourtly, there were many learning points from this performace task. First, always keep calm and cool headed in situations. The more you panic, the more you will make things messy. Next, always keep check on your fire and make sure that it is not burning your food. Also, keep your workplace neat and tidy. This ways, you will be able to have a better overview of what is taking place. Thus, leading me to my next point which was that it will help you to maintain organisation. By maintaining organisation, you will know what is suppose to happen next, provided that you are familiar and confident with the recipie.

All in all, these are my process thoughts and learning points from this performance task. I hope that these points could help you in future situations. Thank you!

Recipie Modification - Ash Reshteh

Hey there! Today I will be sharing my modified recipie for Ash Reshteh, which is Persian vegetable and noodle soup.

During my home economics lesson, I tested out this recipie and it is really tasty yet healthy. We had 1 hour to finish the whole dish (including presentation and washing up of tools). My partner helped me take some photos of this process so please do scroll down and see them. Let's hop into the recipie!!

Ingredients:
  • Half a cup of lentils
  • Small bundle of spinach
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 2 garlic
  • Half or a quarter package of noodles
  • Pepper (desired amount)
  • Half a teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 teaspoon of dry mint
Steps:
  1. Wash the lentils.
  2. In a pot, boil lentils with half a cup of water at medium heat with the lid closed for around half an hour.
  3. Wash the spinach.
  4. Chop spinach, onions and garlic.
  5. In another pot, on low heat, add the oil. Fry onions. Fry garlic.
  6. When the lentils are done, empty into a separate bowl.
  7. In the pot with onions and garlic, fill half the pot with hot water.
  8. Add noodles. Stir the pot so the noodles do not stick to the pot.
  9. After approximately 10 minutes, add pepper and turmeric. Stir.
  10. Add lentils, spinach and dry mint. Cook for approximately another 10 minutes.
  11. Serve in bowl.

Overall, I really enjoyed myself cooking this dish and eating it of course. I hope you will like this recipie as much as I do!

Analysis of my Diet

As from my 3 Day Diet (check previous blog post), majority of the food I eat is healthy. Moreover, I have observed that I enjoy eating fried food which is not as healthy. A way to avoid this is to boil the food instead or find alternative healthier snacks to munch on. Personally, I believe that all foods are good in moderation as I believe in a balanced diet.

However, by changing one's diet is not the only way to keep healthy. One should also have a healthy exercise plan. As for me, I play tennis seriously and train as much as up to 6 times per week which reaches a total of 12 hours. Exercising will help keep your body fit, in shape and maintain a healthy weight.

Furthermore, another key is to be emotionally healthy. By thinking positively and having a good friends and family support system around you can affect you positively. Whenever one is feeling stressed, he or she should always find the bright side of things and be satisfied. Being satisfied with what you have, is one of the main keys to being happy.

In a nutshell, there are different ways to keep healthy such as changing to a healthier diet, exercising regularly and by being happy.

I have left some links to tips on being healthy and to find out more about changing ones lifestyle. I find these links really helpful so please do check them out. Also, there is a link to one of my favourite healthy food youtube channels, The Domestic Geek. There are all sorts of ways to modify recipies, ranging from healthy snack ideas involving bell peppers, to guilt-free ice cream. Lastly, there is a picture of the food pyramid attached. The items that are closer to the top of the pyramid should be eaten in small amount and for the items that are closer to the base of the pyramid should be consumed in greater amounts.

I hope that this reflection was valuable and that you learnt something from it. Hopefully, this will also help you to look back on your life. See you soon!
